Internet Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the final game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While gambling on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He often plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might just be players you have will not have heard about. Gus can be seen competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes omaha hi-low and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in cash games?
