No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the planet by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse comments from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
