NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
