Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the closing table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors anywhere in the world. While wagering on net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Buying in for the minimum takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amt.. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world may be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found participating in net poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in cash games?
