Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve final table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest enthusiasts around the world. While wagering on net poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He often participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amount. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world at times. The best players in the world might just be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen wagering on web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in high stakes omaha hi-low and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
