Internet High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve final table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest bettors in the world. While betting on net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly plays in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the min buy in.
Playing for the min takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be one of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I think television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players anywhere in the world may be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be found playing net poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in money games?
