The History of Poker Chips

[ English ]

Casino chips have been manufactured from a varied selection of materials in an almost endless variety of variations since the creation of wagering and the need to keep an eye on winnings. The most familiar components employed at this time in the creation of modern poker chips are plastic, clay composite, and acrylics. Clay chips, the original of the group, have been made in America since the late 1800s.

Back in the 1800s, poker enthusiasts seemed to use any tiny object with value imaginable. Early poker players sometimes used rough gold pieces as well as chips – mainly made of wood and clay. By the 20th century, poker chip features began to enjoy a bigger prominence, and the smooth edges of older chips gave way to chips with slits to hold them neatly arranged together.

There is little debate that poker has grown steadily in acceptance ever since its beginnings in the 19th century. With the huge growth of net gaming and unique television shows, community appeal in poker has feed the fire a lot faster than ever before. Most folks are first introduced to poker by television showssuch as "Celebrity Poker" or "Poker After Dark," and most will gamble on their 1st hands on the net. Regardless of web poker’s rise, nothing competes with the feeling of holding heavy clay poker chips in your hands, throwing chips into the center of a casino table, or stacking tall pilesstacks of chips after displaying a victorious hand.
