Focus on Annie Duke
Mrs. Duke may not have captured her first WSOP Bracelet until two thousand and four but she is one of the most powerful poker players around the live action games at The Bellagio in sin city. Annie’s longawaited WSOP bracelet came with success at the "cast aside game" of Omaha hi-low.
While players from the "younger crowd" of poker run crazy following a huge win at the tournament, Annie heads back home and becomes "mom" to her 4 kids. Annie was born in New Hampshire and raised into a family of poker players. If you don’t accept that, check out her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who taught her how to compete in the game.
However, Mrs. Duke is no small change girl and has succeeded at her share of hard tables, including eliminating Howard along the way on several occasions. They’re both competitors that have the skill to acquire the big bucks and do so with a grin.
Mrs. Duke is a strong player at any poker table due to the fact that she is a genuine poker player, but it is a bit more than simply being skilled at the game. Mrs. Duke is surprisingly intelligent and graduated from Columbia University where she took a double major in English and Psychology.
When you are seated across from Annie at the table you know Annie is there to play the game and she starts "summing" you up as soon as you join the game table. If you cannot wager like a Champion, then don’t waste your time.
Winning over three million dollars in tournament play, Annie Duke branched out to become a adviser to both the UltimateBet website and actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to sharpen his techniques and develop into a force at the tables.
You may see her at the Bellagio, you will observe Annie on the television and you might even participate against her in an internet poker game, but don’t expect an easy win. Except of course you are a camp-in-the-making, you won’t beat her. However, it would be exciting to say you sat at the same table as "The Duke".
